Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) and La Cité earlier today signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will result in both establishments working together closely to diversify existing post-secondary training opportunities in regards to public safety, both in classrooms and online.

At the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, at La Cité’s main campus in Ottawa, JIBC and La Cité representatives explained that under the terms of this agreement, instructors from each institution will be called upon to share their expertise with their colleagues. This sharing of knowledge and best practices between JIBC and La Cité will allow both organizations to better position themselves at the national and international levels. In addition, the agreement seeks to create new post-secondary programs, workshops and specialized seminars.

“JIBC is very proud to form this important partnership with La Cité,” said Dr. Michel Tarko, President and CEO of JIBC. “We both recognize that through partnerships, we can contribute to our respective strengths to benefit students, our organizations and communities.”

“With its broad range of programs and its ultramodern Institute of Emergency and Legal Services, La Cité has managed to position itself as a leader in regards to post-secondary training in public safety. With a well-established partner such as JIBC, this alliance is one more opportunity for La Cité to expand its program offer and to share its expertise in a sector as important as safety and justice, and therefore better serve and support the success of our students,” added Ms. Lise Bourgeois, President of La Cité.

Expanding the number of online training opportunities will be an important goal of this new partnership, and will help students from JIBC and La Cite obtain the applied public safety education and training in demand in the workforce.
