Extérieur du CHU de Sainte-JustineLa Cité, le collège d’arts appliqués et de technologie, and the CHU Sainte-Justine will work together to develop expertise in areas of common interest.

Ottawa, January 30, 2014 – La Cité and Sainte-Justine University Hospital Centre have just signed an agreement indicating their wish to collaborate on various projects.

“Already profiting from multiple partnerships with regional, national, and international organizations and businesses, the CHU Sainte-Justine continues to pursue its skills development strategy in order to offer superior quality care and services to mothers and children,” indicated Dr. Fabrice Brunet, CEO of the CHU Sainte-Justine. « It is in the same spirit that we are happy to announce this partnership with La Cité, which confirms our desire to share our respective skills in various applied research fields related to the specific interests of both institutions, » he concluded. The agreement is a continuation of the steps taken, over the last few years, by the CHU Sainte-Justine to strengthen its collaboration with college and university-level training institutions in Quebec and elsewhere.

“La Cité is proud to associate its competencies with those of an institution as prestigious as the CHU Sainte-Justine, and to obtain this recognition of the excellence of the training it provides. Students, graduates, and staff will all benefit from this agreement that enables our two organizations to collaborate on various projects in many fields,” said a delighted Lise Bourgeois, President of La Cité.

The 5-year, renewable agreement seeks not only to formalize the ties of collaboration between institutions, but also to implement a process for managing this collaboration, for the benefit of both parties. La Cité and the CHU Sainte-Justine will thus be able to participate in joint activities involving research, training, content and product development, possible practicums, etc.

La Cité’s Institute of Health and Life Sciences is particularly interested in the mother-child health specialization of the CHU Sainte-Justine, and is pleased to have this opportunity to share the experience it has acquired over nearly 25 years of teaching, particularly in Practical Nursing, Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy Technician.

In addition to health, the fields in which La Cité and the CHU Sainte-Justine will collaborate include applied research, biotechnologies, occupational training, microbiology, bioinformatics, medical data processing, construction, and food services. In all, more than 50 La Cité’s programs are included in the agreement.
